Nevada ZIP Coverage by Prefix
The 2026 Census file lists 181 Nevada ZCTA codes, grouped below by the broad area labels in the Nevada research. These are statistical areas, not a complete USPS delivery-ZIP directory. The research did not verify a preferred post office for every code, so the Nevada post-office column points to an address check instead of assigning one by guess. Keep the source year with this Nevada list.

These Nevada code families are a compact inventory, not a block-by-block boundary map. Some valid Nevada delivery ZIPs, including PO-box-only, unique, or nonresidential codes, may not appear as a ZCTA. A ZCTA can also be generalized or noncontiguous. Use USPS when the question is where a specific Nevada address receives mail, and use the Census source only when the question is Nevada statistical geography.
Nevada Postal and Census Areas
For Nevada, a delivery ZIP code and a Census ZCTA are related labels, not matching boundaries. The Census Bureau builds Nevada ZCTAs from Nevada census blocks as generalized statistical shapes. They may be noncontiguous, and a valid PO-box-only, unique, or nonresidential delivery ZIP may have no ZCTA at all. Use the right label for the task: delivery ZIP for mail, ZCTA for Census geography.
The 2026 Nevada file contains 181 ZCTA identifiers. An older Nevada geographic guide reported 176, so counts need a source year. The Census ZCTA explanation describes the statistical area; it is not a people search or a postal address validator.
- Delivery ZIP
- A USPS delivery identifier used for mail routing in Nevada; it does not define a legal city boundary.
- ZIP+4
- A ZIP value with four extra digits. Validate a full Nevada address with USPS rather than using the extra digits as a city or county label.
- PO-box or unique ZIP
- A valid delivery ZIP that may serve a Nevada box-only, unique, or nonresidential use and may not have a matching ZCTA.
- Postal carrier route
- The source set does not define this postal unit or identify a Nevada data layer for it; do not treat route boundaries as ZIP areas or resident coverage.
Nevada ZIP Search Fields and Limits
Only some Nevada public tools accept a ZIP code as a search field, and the field does not mean the same thing in each one. USPS checks delivery details; Clark County's assessor asks for street parts; the state public offender registry has a Nevada ZIP option within its own limited records. The table keeps those functions separate.
| Portal | Field label | Control | Required | Options or limits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| USPS address lookup | Full address | Address lookup | Required for the by-address route | Returns a ZIP and city/state for the address; it does not list residents |
| Clark County Assessor site-address search | Street Number | Numeric field | Format is numeric | Nevada address and parcel search; no ZIP field was captured |
| Clark County Assessor | Street Name | Text field | Required | Used with street components |
| Clark County Assessor | Direction, street type, city/town | Dropdowns | Not stated | Choose from the form's available values |
| Clark County Assessor | Phonetic and current/prior owner | Checkbox and preference control | Not stated | Search options on the inspected address form |
| Nevada public offender registry | Name, address radius, Nevada ZIP | Search modes | Not reported | Public results depend on statutory tier; positive identity is not guaranteed |
The research did not expose a Nevada public statewide voter status page with a ZIP field or a complete ZIP-to-assessor portal map. Do not infer a control from a portal's address box; inspect the current form before relying on it.
A Nevada Resident Search by ZIP
A ZIP code alone cannot produce a verified list of Nevada residents. Start by deciding whether the question is about mail delivery, an area for Census data, or a specific public record. The verified person-search field in the Nevada research belongs to the state's public offender registry, which has Nevada publication limits and does not act as a general resident roll. For property research, local address and parcel fields are more useful than assuming that a county portal accepts a ZIP.
- For a known Nevada address, check the full street address in USPS and save the returned ZIP and postal city.
- For a map or population question, use the matching Census ZCTA and keep the Nevada Gazetteer year beside the result.
- Use the Nevada public offender registry's ZIP option only for its stated public records and conditions; confirm any identity through official channels.
- For a Nevada parcel or owner question, identify the county and use that assessor's actual search fields. Clark's inspected site form is address-based, not ZIP-based.
- If an existing public record is not online, contact the agency that keeps it and request that record under the Nevada Public Records Act; a custodian need not create a ZIP-wide resident list.
Once a ZIP check points to a known street, use the Nevada street directory lookup for address-keyed records. Keep the Nevada ZIP, legal city, county, and source date as separate fields so a postal label does not stand in for residence.
Note: Nevada does not have one verified statewide portal that turns a ZIP into a complete public resident list.
Nevada ZCTA Counts by Source Year
The current inventory comes from the 2026 Census Gazetteer, not from USPS. It lists 181 Nevada ZCTA identifiers; an older Nevada geographic guide counted 176. That difference shows why a ZIP-area list needs a year on every table and map. It does not show that five delivery ZIPs were added, removed, or realigned.
For Census work, use the 2026 Gazetteer page and its national ZCTA file. Keep the source date and the area type with any copied value. A current ZIP validation still belongs in USPS, because Census shapes are made for geographic analysis rather than mail delivery.
Missing Nevada ZIP Crosswalks
The Nevada research did not locate a verified statewide crosswalk matching every delivery ZIP to a preferred postal city, county, ZCTA, and local assessor portal. It also did not map every ZIP to a distinct post office. For that reason, the coverage table groups Census codes by the broad service-area labels in the source and leaves delivery checks to USPS.
This is a real limit on ZIP-by-ZIP resident research. A statewide number list cannot say which county keeps a deed, which municipality handles a permit, or which local assessor has a parcel search. Use the legal county and city for records routing, then check that office's current site or contact path. Keep an unanswered crosswalk question in the notes instead of assigning an area from a postal label.
Note: The source set confirms ZCTA identifiers and individual address validation, but not a complete Nevada postal-city and county crosswalk.
Nevada's ZIP Labels and City Lines
A postal city is not always the legal city, and a ZIP boundary does not set a Nevada county line. “Las Vegas” may refer to the incorporated city, unincorporated Clark County, or a postal city. The Clark County Assessor glossary distinguishes a property's legal city or town from its mailing address. The same care applies elsewhere in Nevada: route a property or permit question by its governing jurisdiction, not only by the name printed beside a ZIP.
The research did not map every Nevada ZIP that crosses a city line. Do not treat a postal city as proof of legal jurisdiction; a county GIS or assessor record can settle a known parcel.
Nevada Postal Geography for Families
A relative's old envelope may preserve a postal city but not the municipality or county that held the record. Treat that place name as a lead. First match the historic spelling to the community named in a dated directory, newspaper, or archive record. Then use current USPS and county sources only for the question they answer today. Nevada directory holdings are arranged by city, year, and collection, not by a modern ZCTA list.
For a household-history trail, keep the old address exactly as written and note any normalized street form separately. Search the right town's volumes and compare more than one year; an address that now has a different legal city may still belong to the same historic community. The Nevada city directory collections explain where those dated books are held and how to read their entries.
Nevada ZIP Values Are Not Residence Proof
A Nevada ZIP code narrows a delivery area or statistical shape; it does not identify each person in that area. A USPS result confirms how a full address is served, while a Census ZCTA describes generalized geography. Neither result proves that a named person lives at an address. The public offender registry has its own published records and access rules, and its search result still needs official verification.
When a ZIP-based search does not answer the question, move to the record that can: a county assessor for parcel facts, the recorder for filed instruments, a clerk for county records, or a library and archive for older material. Nevada has no unified statewide trial, recorder, assessor, or municipal directory search. Keep the source, date, search field, and any missing coverage with the result so later readers can tell exactly what it does and does not establish.
Note: Postal and Census boundaries help place an address, while a record custodian remains the source for the record itself.
