This is not a government office or records custodian. Nevada Residents Directory is privately operated and cannot retrieve or certify a record, confirm a person’s address, or change an official roll. Direct those requests to the office responsible for the record. Call 911 in an emergency. If you face stalking or harassment, contact local law enforcement.

Where to Send a Nevada Records Request

Start with the custodian for the kind of record you need. Nevada does not have one office that searches every county, court, and state database:

  • Property instruments: contact the county recorder that filed the deed, lien, map, or other document.
  • Assessment and parcel details: use the assessor for the county where the land is located.
  • Birth or death certificate: follow the Nevada Office of Vital Records request steps and proof rules.
  • Marriage, divorce, and voter records: route the request to the county clerk or elections office that holds the record.
  • Existing state or local records: send a focused request to the agency that keeps the record under the Nevada Public Records Act, NRS Chapter 239.

For certificates, the state lists the Office of Vital Records at 4150 Technology Way, Suite 104, Carson City, NV 89706. Its published contact is 775-684-4242 and vitalrecords@health.nv.gov. Visit the Nevada vital-record locations and contacts page before sending a request. The research source supplied no walk-in hours, so call the office to confirm current service arrangements before traveling.

The state’s public-records request guidance explains agency routing and the response process. Under NRS 239.0107, an agency must respond no later than the end of the fifth business day, even if it needs to provide a status notice or estimate instead of the record. A narrowly scoped request should name the record, custodian, date range, and preferred format.
